Yesterday’s 85th Academy Awards did not disappoint in terms of the red carpet fashion. We had our fingers crossed for some seriously puffy Disney Princess dresses and our wishes came true with these Disney-inspired creations below!
Everyone was in agreement that Amy Adams was channelling her character Giselle from Enchanted in this Oscar de la Renta creation, which she apparently had a hand in designing. We love the tulle skirt and simple corseted bodice. Although the dress seemed to split opinion, Amy was our best dressed of the night.
Amy wasn’t the only one channelling Giselle as this Gucci creation worn by Jennifer Garner proves. Don’t the cut and colour remind you of Giselle’s dress in the ball scene of Enchanted?
Meanwhile Jessica Rabbit – we mean, Jessica Chastain – was pure Old Hollywood glamour in this strapless Armani dress and side swept red curls.
We had our eye on this Marchesa dress a couple of weeks ago when it debuted at New York Fashion Week. Worn by Fan Bing Bing, the origami neckline reminded us of the lillies of Tiana’s dress in The Princess and the Frog.
OK, it’s a stretch but Jennifer Aniston looked like such a princess in this gorgeous Valentino ballgown we just had to include her, and the skirt does kinda look like Cinderella’s, if you remove the peplum and made it strapless and red and well, yeah, you get the picture!
Kristin Chenoweth was the first to hit the red carpet and when we saw a picture of her next to Kelly Rowland she looked so small and pixie-like that, coupled with the blonde bun on top of her head, she really reminded us of Tinker Bell.
We were also thrilled to see two Disney wins in the first half hour of the ceremony itself: Best Animated Short for Paperman and Best Animated Feature for Brave. Congratulations Disney!
