Bambi Crops Up at Givenchy’s Paris Fashion Week AW13 Show

Bambi Givenchy 3

Yesterday evening Disney made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week in the most unlikely manner, via a collage featuring Bambi printed onto a floral lace sweatshirt at Givenchy’s A/W 2013 fashion show. Bambi was merged with what appeared to be a painting and he cropped up again on a cotton sweatshirt and even on a clutch bag (check out the gallery below).

Women’s Wear Daily, the ultimate arbiter of style, called the collection a “weirdly graceful mix of streetwise aggression and classic gentility” while Grazia saw it as an expression of Creative Director Riccardo Tisci’s “emotional attachment to the fairer sex”. Given that Tisci’s father died when he was very young and he grew up with eight sisters and a working mother, it is clear to see why Bambi might have been a poignant film for a young Riccardo. Either way, it’s awesome that he included Disney in his collection and as Tisci himself said to Vogue, “It was the most fun collection I’ve done!”
