WWMD. (What Would Minnie Do?). This is the question we ask ourselves when we can’t work out whether to splurge on Lanvin or binge at Barney’s (Minnie would!). Which is why we got seriously excited when we saw this Minnie Mouse shirt (above) from German fashion brand SCHUMACHER. Just look at that cheeky grin: tottering behind the tower of purchases in her arms, who wants to bet that Minnie will be stashing these at the back of her wardrobe before Mickey comes home? Next time we go on a secret shopping spree we will definitely be doing the same!
And our excitement only grew when we found out that this t-shirt wasn’t a one off but part of an entire collection, from SCHUMACHER’s DSuite365 range.
There are a lot of Disney t-shirts available on the high-street so we were pleased to see that SCHUMACHER are offering something different by designing all-new sketches specifically for the collaboration. There are four ultra-feminine t-shirts and a sweater to choose from, which feature Minnie skipping, twirling and posing. The collection also includes a tunic, skirt and foulard (a kind of lightweight scarf) with a subtle Minnie Mouse silhouette print. It can be hard to find understated Disney womenswear so this is a perfect solution for anyone who needs a practical outfit but still wants to honour their inner child.
We actually hadn’t heard of SCHUMACHER before this collaboration but it turns out they’re an established label, sold in over 46 countries (including luxury London department store Harrods) and a regular at Berlin Fashion Week. Created by Dorothee Schumacher in the late 1980s, her first collection consisted of four t-shirts, so it’s very appropriate that Dorothee has re-visited this closet staple for the Minnie Mouse collaboration. Dorothee said she was inspired by Minnie because the modish mouse is “Strong and tender, like a typical SCHUMACHER woman” and not many “can be so naturally cool and sweet at the same time.”
The collection starts from £54 and is available now online and in select stores. Remember, if you can’t decide which piece to buy from the collection, ask yourself “what would Minnie do?” She’d probably buy them all! (Just don’t tell Mickey.)
Be sure to visit the SCHUMACHER website to see an adorable animation of Minnie walking through their store. So cute!
