Talk Like a Pirate Day Style Guide

Arrr, Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day me hearties!

Every 19th September, landlubbers around the world celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day (or face walking the plank)! In honor of this momentous occasion we’ve pulled together a couple of outfits inspired by two of our favorite Disney scurvy dogs, Captains Jack Sparrow and James Hook.

Captain Jack Sparrow Disney SideJohnny Depp single-handedly re-invented the pirate look with his dazzling silver screen performance in Pirates of the Caribbean. Crusty clothing has never looked so hot! A pair of black jeans, brown boots and baggy white shirt will provide the perfect basis for channeling Cap’n Jack but the key to this look is “more is more” – so raid your accessories draw and layer on that pirate booty!

Top Pirate Tip: For extra inspiration check out Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richards – Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow is based on him!

Captain Hook Disney Side

In stark contrast, Captain James Hook dresses like a gentleman – even if he doesn’t behave like one. Echo his sleek style with a red coat, ruffled shirt and smart booties. Elegant gold jewelry and a Charlotte Olympia clock bag top off this outfit nicely – just be sure keep it away from any nearby crocodiles!

Top Pirate Top: Captain James Hook went to Eton College – the same school as Prince William! – so make sure you keep it classy, even if you are a pirate!
