Three Illustrators Create Dream Couture Gowns For Cinderella

Hayden Williams 5

We’re all about fantasy fashion so you can imagine our excitement upon hearing that Disney and Tumblr had together commissioned three dreamy illustrators to design – and create – modern-day red carpet dresses inspired by Cinderella’s ballgown.

Check out their creations below and head over to Disney’s Cinderella Tumblr page for lots more magic.

Hayden Williams

We have been fans of Londoner Hayden Williams ever since we saw his stunning drawing of Kate Moss for the Rimmel mascara adverts. And we are obsessed with his interpretation of Cindy’s dress, a V-neck knee-length prom dress (with plenty of puff) featuring an elongated peplum and crystals finish. Williams also designed a Marilyn Monroe-esque ankle-length version, explaining: ‘I love both the designs I created but I think Disney made the right decision about which one would come to life.’ So do we!

Katie Rodgers

American artist Katie Rodgers, of gorgeous blog Paper Fashion, has worked for designers including Coach, Missoni and Target so she was a natural choice to conjure up a couture Cinderella dress. Her ballet-inspired design has a romantic full skirt made of blue silk satin and is studded with Swarovski crystals. Magical.

Felipe Solisce

Mexican illustrator Felipe Solisce also designed two versions of Cindy’s stunning dress, one in the classic blue and the other – which took four people 336 to bring to life – in a champagne nude tulle with hand-embroidered lace and organza butterflies. ‘My mother told me it was and awful idea to hide such a beautiful lace under layers of tulle,’ he explained. ‘But it is my idea of beautiful in the inside.’ We’re sure Cinderella would approve of that message.
